Poetry by Pierre LaPorte

Taking a slight detour...alright a massive detour from the comedic postings, I have decided to post some poetry by an unpublished poet.  His name is Pierre LaPorte. I met him in my freshman year of college and, through this blog, he found out I had not died of some embarrassing illness and was, in fact, still writing.  He asked me to publish a few of his poems and I reluctantly said yes, as poetry is definitely not my strongest medium.

So over the great expanse of time, I'll be posting some of his poems. I don't know if they are good or bad, but he's an old friend and I hope he does well.  Obviously, he'll love to know what you all think so please be sure to post your comments .

So now? On to the poetry!

spring

Springtime Arrival
Springtime approaches in the twilight of winter,
Promising life in morning anew.
Transgressions of the past season revealed,
Fade away with the mid-morning dew.

As roots take hold and start to rise,
We dream of our lives only slight askew.
Memory of our failure dies,
By the sword of hope we rise anew.

Seeing all with a rosy glow,
We advance into the day with pride unwavering.
Below our doubts remain but muted,
Taste of sweet surrender we still are savoring.

But how will be continue our endless travel,
Through the gauntlet of judged past effort?
As our spirit rises towards the end of spring,
We arrive in summer’s harsh desert.
